Huntsman Cancer Institute

What does our efforts go to?

Throughout our 25 year partnership the money we have raised has gone to numerous different places within Huntsman, all with great benefits. Until 2019, our money went to helping fund treatment rooms for patients, ensusing their best experince while dealing with cancer. In 2019, Sigma Chi pledged 20 million dollars for womens cancer research, in recognition of the outstanding, and often un-recognized, work that women have and continue to do for our world. Through this pledge, Huntsman was able to build the Kathrine F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Womens Cancers, which opened in 2023.

WHAT IS THE HUNTSMAN CANCER INSTITUTE?

Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) is an NCI-designated cancer research facility and hospital located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Scientists at the institute aim to understand cancer at a molecular and genetic level and strive to find new and more effective ways to treat this disease. A treatment approach based on genetic knowledge allows for more targeted, individualized cancer therapies.

WHAT IS NEXT!

The success that we have had so far gives us nothing but more motivation to strive past previous expectations and continue our devotion to this great cause. As of June 27 of this year, Sigma Chi has announced a new 31 million dollar pledge to Huntsman in order to bring to life the Sigma Chi center for Advanced Therapeutics and Innovation. This pledge is the single largest pledge ever from a Men's Fraternity and we expect to meet our goal in five to seven years.
